One of the most frequently asked questions I receive from those interested in my journey as an artist is, "How did you begin body casting?"
My response typically begins with the fact that I've immersed myself in pottery for over nine years. In 2020, while attending ceramics classes remotely via Zoom, I found myself sculpting vulva forms. It was during this time that my professor, though not personally versed in body casting, suggested I explore the technique, given his expertise in slip cast mold making.
The inception of my venture into body casting stemmed from my aspiration to convert vulva casts into functional sprig molds (one-part 'press' pottery molds).
This video primarily delves into the intricacies of my journey in acquiring technical skills as an artist, transitioning from a ceramic background to specializing in body casting. Moving forward, I intend to delve deeper into the emotional underpinnings of my fascination with the human body as an art form.
